Churros and moving day

View from the apartment

Day 5

Today is a really HOT day and so couple people from the Hostel and I went to the beach, Not that we needed an excuse to go relax at the beach but it was to hot to do something else...
We stayed there for couple hours and then Emily and I went on the search for food, not to far away we found a Tapas place, we had Patatas Bravas, Pimientos Padrote and of course San Miguel was there to keep us company.

it was getting chill and we decided to go back to the hostel with a quick stop for churros con chocolate ( we have churros in Mexico so I was excited to try the spanish version of them and well, let's just say I wasn't impress, they are good but not as good as in Mexico…)

Last night My Cousins arrived from Mexico and they are renting an apartment in Barcelona for one month, and so, I'm moving in with them tonight…  I'm really looking forward to hang out with them, it's been awhile since last time we spent more that 2 days together also my nephew Santi is 19 months old and I haven't had the time to spend some time with him. I'm very exited about that!

*San Miguel is the local beer

The big hike...

Sagrado Corazon

Barcelona form the top of Tibidabo

Day 4

I woke up early-ish today, had some breakfast and head out for what it would be a 8 hours hike to Mont Tibidabo where the church of "Sagrado Corazon" is. apparently the best view of Barcelona or at least the highest...

Its a pretty long walk/hike 25km but so worth it… the views, the nature, the company and just the feeling of making it all the way to the top was Amazing...

Back at the Hostel was the inauguration Party. We had Champagne, Wine, Tapas and Cake. all courtesy of the Owner of Sant Jordi Hostels... got the chance to meet her and at the end of the night we agree to do a Film Project for the Hostels when I get back to Barcelona at the end of my trip...

Just chilling...

Day 3

Today the day was beautiful and really hot. so Emily and I decided to head down to the beach and just take it easy Barcelona style!! nothing much happened today and it was movie night at the hostel, we went for crepas, made some popcorn and ended up watching Old School.

*Emily is the American I meet the day before, she's studying aboard in Germany, she's really cool and for the next few days we'll explore the city together doing food tours lol…

** Photos are from on the way to the beach... once at the beach I just forgot about the camera and enjoyed the view.... and not the topless girls but the Ocean... ejem!!

Hello Stranger...

La Pedrera (Gaudi)

Chicago

Day 2

Today I was going out to have some coffee and as i was leaving the Hostel I met girl from the US, she was also looking for a coffee shop so together we walked around Gracia looking for a terrace to enjoy the sunny day with some coffee. we didn't exchange names but stories and traveling experiences. later the day I went downtown looking for Decathlon to buy a travel-towel and on the way back I did a little Gaudi Tour and wow just wow, very impressive architecture!

The weekly CS Gracia meeting has happening tonight and it just happened to be in front of the hostel, thus couple Couchsurfers that were staying at the hostel (yes, in Barcelona is near to impossible to find a host) an me went there and have few beers with local CSurfers.. we had a VIP area of the bar(it used to be a Theater)and CS got a 30%off  ;-) after the meetup we move the party to another bar to dance some salsa and have shots with 2 cool girls from chicago...  over all a great night in Barcelona.

it can't get more real than this...

 Day 1

I arrived to Barcelona airport, It can't get more real than this... I'm in Europe and this is the first day of my Adventure. as I exit the airport I noticed that there were no currency exchange office nor a ATM. I had to take the airbus to Barcelona and I had no Euros…  Not a big deal after all, just had to walk to the next Terminal ;) but for a second I was freaking out haha

Once In Barcelona I got off in Plaza Catalunya where I borrowed wifi from someone and looked for a Hostel. I google Sant Jordi (Thanks Douglas and Chester for the tip) once I got the address I started walking that direction…  40min later I arrived to the what I think is one of coolest Hostels ever… Brand New in the Barrio de Gracia, a Cycle Themed Hostel with an awesome staff.

Later at night we had tapas with fellow travellers then we all went out in the neighbourhood to have some drinks and party like a local… (1e beer outside of a Church.)

I've been planning a trip to Europe for... well for as long as I can remember but I always postponed it for various reasons... work, school, family or just by leaving things to last minute... and this time was no different... but somehow everything worked out. I bought my ticket 3 days before leaving, got my backpack the day after that and packed couple hours before boarding the plane and I'm now starting my 2 month adventure in Europe...
